ABOUT CANIFFF
Under the leadership and ownership of Roger Gingerich, The Canadian International Fashion Film Festival is a celebration, exploring the diverse and shifting landscape of fashion in film and honouring some of the genre’s greatest. Fashion has always played an integral part in film. Only recently however, has fashion played a leading role in its very own genre.
As Fashion Weeks continue to navigate the ever-changing terrain, CANIFFF provides a unique platform for brands, filmmakers, designers, & creative industries to showcase their talent, brands, and services. This year, CANIFFF supported the fashion & film industry through our theme of “Community” in our Chats, Collaborations, Panels with industry leaders, & our Annual Awards Show.
“I feel the virtual revolution we are currently going through has pushed fashion films front and center as the medium for storytelling. After so many decades in the business of fashion, coupled with my love of film and cultural influences, it’s exciting to now have Canada being a leader on the Fashion Film Festival world stage. Toronto is uniquely situated to be the Canadian home for this unique creative platform, as it is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world,” remarks CANIFFF CEO Roger Gingerich.
The fashion film is an intriguing anomaly these days – it is a niche subgroup of the short film genre. Fashion films are one of the most unique and fascinating forms of expression. Fashion films are pieces of content created by brands, designers, storytellers, and artists that include fashion as the main character or plays a supporting role. The films present new stories while also influencing consumer decision-making.

COUNTRY: United States Featuring the fashion eyewear of Georgetown Optician, we are taken into a world of silence where eyes do the talking and quiet is zealously guarded. Set in the quietest library on Earth (a temple of hush), the film focuses on a tyrannical “Quiet Guard”, punishing patrons for the slightest sound. Unable to stand his harshness and communicating only with their eyes, the library patrons plot to take the library back – sparking a silent revolution! #CANIFFF2020
