“For me, it’s all about the people. When I see a unique face I immediately get inspired and imagine the full look from makeup to the full styling.”
Kim Sat
Title of what you do and/or what company:
Fashion Makeup Artist and Fashion Art Director.
Education background:
I acquired my makeup artistry education at the Yarin Shahaf School of Makeup in Tel Aviv, Israel. Since then, I’ve completed several continuing-education courses and worked with makeup artists such as Danessa Mayrics, Natasha Danone, James Vincent, Ortal Elimelech, and Adva Almakaies.
What is your signature style/artistic expression in your work?
For me, it’s all about the people. When I see a unique face I immediately get inspired and imagine the full look from makeup to the full styling. It excites me when I see something that even the model didn’t imagine herself like that.
What is the first creative project that you remember?
It was a project for the French magazine Monaco. I remembered that very well because it was the first project I took to myself as a creative director and not as just a makeup artist. From building a team to the small details on the set. The results were amazing and I am proud that I trusted myself.
What is the most fulfilling job you’ve worked on or a person you have worked with?
It was with a female model agent manager. I was surprised to see the beautiful way she managed her models and took care of them. Aside from the fact that she was so cool and energetic, I loved to have finally worked with a female running a model agency. She really empowered me as a beginner fashion director.
Do you have a career turning point, big break, or person that has helped your career?
I have big dreams and a long way to go. For me, I’m happy to break my internal walls time and time again. When I look back and see my work and the person I become, I see my progress and I know I’m on the right path.
What was the scariest and proudest moment in your career?
When one of my favorite and iconic makeup artists reached out for me to work with her.
I was so excited about the opportunity to participate in one of her projects.
What is next for your career goals?
To move to the US and continue and create big things. To reinvent myself often and inspire the fashion industry with my art and with good collaboration with talented people.
What advice would you give to someone starting your business?
Learn and explore. Work with people who’ve inspired you. Don’t be afraid to work for free aside from talented people until you get your shot. This is one of the things that gave me the right tools to become a pro in the field. And of course, to continue and believe in yourself all the time, it’s not cliche!
