I am from Hermosillo Sonora Mexico, currently living for 25 years in Mexico City.
Title of what you do and what company you work with?
I am a photographer and fashion designer. I dedicate most of my time to fashion photography.
Education background (art school, photography class, self-taught)?
I studied photography in my hometown and fashion design and visual arts in Mexico City.
What is your signature style/artistic expression in your work?
I identify a lot with painting. I think my photographic proposal draws a lot from, surrealism, baroque and symbolist painting.
What type of images or people do you like to shoot?
I love different beauty, and strange faces with a gothic touch.
Do you have a career turning point or big break that has helped your career? What was the scariest and proudest moment in your career?
I think the critical point was travelling to Mexico City. I won a Harper’s Bazaar magazine contest in 1998 and from there I made the decision to dedicate my life 100% to this profession. From there, I have struggled to achieve a space in this industry. and try to make my way into it. I feel very proud that my last cover of Harper’s Bazaar in 2020 was selected as one of the best covers worldwide. with characters that I admire a lot from the world of fashion, scary moment I think it was to end of 2023 to see the scope that artificial intelligence has in the audiovisual field, but now I see it as one more tool to use, and I love it.
What is next for your career goals?
I would love to continue producing more personal work and continue learning and experimenting with new technologies, exhibiting my work in other places to inspire new generations and continue to exist for a long time.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in your business?
they enjoy it and are passionate about what they do, never stop learning and seek inspiration, and educate the eye a lot.
