What country are you from, and where do you reside?

I was born in the US in a small town outside of Nashville, Tennessee, and live in Los Angeles. 

Title of what you do and if you are aligned with a brand or company.

I am a hair colorist working at Meche Salon in Beverly Hills. Last year, I became an ambassador with Olaplex. I have been using Olaplex since 2016, and I love how it has changed the hair game! Being their ambassador has been an honor.

Education background (school, salons, self-taught)?

High school, hair school and assisted for four years afterwards.

What is the first creative project that you remember?

Applying for the student competition for NAHA with Aveda Institute Nashville for a trip to Vegas.

What is the signature style or technique of your work?

I love naturally beautiful polished hair. Creating the effortless style spun with gold is a new highlighting hair color.  My “Spun with Gold” technique draws inspiration from Botticelli in conjuring a gilded, backlit effect to the hair in real life, an overall solid but dimensional highlighting. All of my clients have been clamouring for it, looking for a beautiful blonde hair color that looks lit from within. 

Emphasizing light, movement, and dimension, my technique is achieved by using a balance of fine highlights woven throughout the client’s head of hair. It’s natural, yet almost too good to be true — an elevated version of your natural hair color or what you would dream of your natural color to be! The beauty of it lies in that it works on everyone. 

I always recommend at-home care in between salon appointments. For my spun with gold clients, I like OLAPLEX No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and OLAPLEX No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner to protect from breakage.

What is the most fulfilling job you’ve worked on or someone you have worked with?

I love being able to really fix someone’s poorly colored hair that comes to me the first time and seeing them leave happy with their hair and a smile! 

Do you have a career turning point, big break, or person who has helped your career?

I would say being able to work for Tracey Cunningham really prepared me for anything. I was so young when I met her and had a lot to learn, and she taught me so well. 

What was the scariest and proudest moment in your career?

Scariest was probably turning Megan Fox from a permanent black color into a redhead. 

My Proudest was the opportunity to color Margot Robbie’s hair for her Barbie movie press tour. 

What is next for your career goals?

Keep growing my client roster. Have a few more significant hair color changes. Maybe I will work on my own line one day – stay tuned!  

What advice would you give to someone starting your business?

My first advice would be to research. Look into what vibe of hair you want to do and learn from the best. Assist for as long as you can. Soak everything up! Knowledge is power!
