Best Self Tan Products for a Sunless Glow

This summer I decided not to be a sun chaser but simply a sun lover. Gone are the days when we would bake on a foil blanket using some form of toxic body oil to attract the rays. We do need a daily dose of Vitamin D but in moderation. Taking the self tan route has become the norm and the products are smelling, feeling and look much better than they did years ago.

To make your spray or self tan last longer, start with proper pre-tan preparation. The night before your tan, exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells, ensuring a smooth surface for the tan to adhere to. Focus on areas like elbows, knees, and ankles by applying a light, oil-free moisturizer beforehand, which helps prevent these spots from absorbing too much color and becoming overly dark.

Self tan products are now much easier to use in mousse or light spray formats. The various application methods are used with a mitt or a body brush. Using both methods helps ensure a more even distribution.

Post-tan care is crucial for maintaining your glow. Avoid water, including showering or sweating, for at least 8-10 hours to let the tan fully develop. Keep your skin hydrated by moisturizing daily with an oil-free lotion, which helps the tan fade evenly and prevents patchiness. When showering, use gentle, sulfate-free cleansers and avoid scrubbing your skin.

Minimize prolonged water exposure, such as in swimming pools or hot tubs, as this can cause the tan to fade more quickly. Finally, always pat your skin dry after showering to preserve your tan. Following these steps will help extend the life of your spray or self tan and keep your skin looking beautifully bronzed.
