Glo Derma Embraces The Art of Reversal®️ Facial Rejuvenation
Amy Lynn at Glo Derma Spa specializes in non-surgical, medical aesthetic procedures, with a primary focus on injectables. Embracing the regenerative side of medicine, Lynn focuses on natural rejuvenation and biostimulation using a multi-modality approach. With the growing interest in regenerative medicine, it has become a core aspect of her practice.
One of Amy Lynn’s key trademarks is a concept coined The Art of Reversal®️, which addresses the trend of patients seeking a fresh start—especially those who’ve undergone years of procedures or have overfilled appearances. It’s about following a thoughtful protocol to rejuvenate the face naturally while incorporating regenerative techniques.
This issue came up frequently in Amy Lynn’s practice, which sparked her curiosity about properly reversing fillers. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers, commonly used in the market, can be dissolved using enzymes like Hylenex or hyaluronidase. These enzymes effectively break down the filler, whether due to complications—hopefully rare—or undesirable aesthetic results.
Amy Lynn’s interest deepened after a personal experience. “A few years ago, after returning from a conference in Monaco, I contracted COVID. I hadn’t used fillers on my face in a long time, but I had years of lip filler previously. Following COVID, I noticed lumpy, nodule-like areas deeper in my lips, specifically where the pink meets the wet/dry border. Upon reflection, I realized my smile had been subtly off for a while, but I couldn’t pinpoint why.”
“Treating myself as I would a patient, I waited for the inflammation from the virus to resolve and then used Hylenex to dissolve the deeper filler, which had been affecting my smile animation and muscle function. The results were eye-opening—my natural smile returned. This experience made me realize that even as a professional, I wasn’t fully aware of what was happening in my own case. Many patients likely face similar unrecognized issues.” says Lynn.
“After dissolving the filler, I gave my lips a break and transitioned to using a natural alternative: EZ Gel. This is essentially platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) that’s processed through heating and cooling to create a gel-like substance. It’s excellent for hydrating the skin, rejuvenating tissues, and improving skin laxity. I found it worked beautifully and began exploring it further.”
“I also collaborated with brilliant colleagues, like Dr. Kian Karimi, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon and innovator in this space. Together, we developed protocols for filler reversal and tissue healing. After using the enzyme to dissolve filler, tiny microchannels are created in the skin. These can lead to dehydration or issues with post-treatment migration if the area is rejuvenated too quickly. Proper timing and technique are essential to avoid repeated filler migration.”
“Patients are often hesitant to dissolve their filler because they fear looking deflated or aged. It’s important to explain that aging naturally expands the tissues over time, but we can address this by immediately following up with the body’s own bio-stimulators, like EZ Gel. This approach not only heals the skin but also provides natural volume, improves tissue perfusion, and promotes better integration—all in the same session. It’s a comprehensive way to restore balance and enhance the tissue’s health and appearance.”
