“London is where I really discovered the world of hair and fashion.”
What country are you from and where do you live?
I was born in the south of France. Toulouse is where I grew up. I moved to London for two years before moving to Toronto where I have been living for the past five years.
Title of what you do and what company your work with?
I am a freelance hair stylist working mostly in fashion. When I’m not on the road, I see my clients from the salon called August.
Education background (hair school, art school, no school)?
I started my education in France. I completed three diploma courses over five years before moving to London where I studied at the Sassoon Academy on a six month program obtaining my diploma as a stylist/colour specialist.
What is your signature style/ artistic expression to your work?
When I first started doing hair I don’t think I realized all the options, styles and expressions I could convey with my work. Over the years, I have been exploring the industry to find what I love most and what most represents me. It’s still a work in progress but like to try new things and challenge myself to explore my abilities.
Do you have a career turning point or big break that has helped your career?
It was definitely taking the plunge and moving to London! This is where I really discovered the world of hair and fashion which has brought me to this point now where I have established myself as an artist in Toronto.
What was your scariest and proudest moment in your career?
I would say packing up and moving to a brand new city with no job in hand was the hardest decision for me. It’s exciting and scary all at the same time because you don’t know what’s in store for you on the other end. That being said, I couldn’t be happier – I did it! The first step is always the hardest but it really shows you what you can be capable of.
My proudest moment was to see my work on the front cover of an American magazine. Seeing my name on the cover and holding it my hand truly was amazing
What is next for your career goals?
I’d like to continue my journey of learning and working with those who inspire me and eventually be represented by an agency internationally where I could travel with my passion.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in your business?
Be passionate, believe in yourself, be confident, don’t give up on your dreams and most importantly be persistent. Life is all about timing.
