“My signature style would be very graphic shapes, especially triangle shapes.”
Olivier Schawalder
What country are you from and where do you live?
I am from Switzerland. A long time ago I lived in Tokyo, Japan and am now based in Paris for eight years.
Title of what you do and what company you work with?
I am a freelance Hair Artist represented by Bryant Artists worldwide
Education background (Hair school, salons, self taught)?
I did the classic way with three years of internship in Switzerland, ten years in salons in different places and countries and now doing studio work for about fifteen years.
What is your signature style/artistic expression to your work?
I am a perfectionist in everything I do! My signature style would be very graphic shapes, especially triangle shapes.
Do you have a career turning point or big break that has helped your career?
A beauty editorial for Italian Vogue changed the path of my career.
What was your scariest and proudest moment in your career?
Moving to Tokyo Japan in 2004 with not much of a plan but ended up seven years later doing editorial for Vogue Japan. It’s sooo long ago, but I remember being very proud to achieve that in a country like Japan.
What is next for your career goals?
Being able to take hair artistry into another level of beauty. I adore doing still life hair pictures. I want to dig a bit more into that.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in your business?
Being the most genuine to yourself is the key to succeeding in your dreams. Kindness, honesty and being fair always pays off after all! Remember to always stay true and strong!
